| We have listed below several valuable sources
of information to help educate you in obtaining car
insurance in Oregon. Included are links to organizations
with helpful guides on topics such as purchasing auto insurance,
filing
claims and more.
Oregon Car Insurance Laws
Oregon auto insurance law requires a minimum liability coverage
of 25/50/10, that is: $25,000 per person; $50,000 per car
accident for bodily injury to others; and $10,000 per car
accident for Property Damage liability (PD). Personal Injury
Protection (PIP) of $15,000 is Oregon's version of no-fault
insurance. PIP covers you and your passengers, regardless
of who caused an car accident. PIP benefits covers medical
services, loss of earnings, and certain expenses of up to
$10,000.
Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury coverage (UMBI) is also
required at a minimum of 25/50: $25,000 per person and $50,000
per accident for bodily injury to you and your passengers
caused by an uninsured driver. Consider increasing this coverage
on your policy, because an uninsured motorist probably cannot
compensate you for your losses. Remember, these are the minimum
coverage required by Oregon law, not levels of coverage recommended
by the Oregon Insurance Division.
Oregon auto insurance
companies will offer higher levels of coverage
and options coverage such as collision coverage, comprehensive
coverage, and uninsured
motorist property damage.
